About World Time Zones

Time zones are regions of the Earth that have the same standard time. They are defined by their offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which is the primary time standard by which all time zones are defined.

The Earth is divided into 24 time zones, each approximately 15 degrees of longitude wide. The time in each zone is based on the mean solar time at the central meridian of that zone.

Some countries and regions observe Daylight Saving Time (DST), which involves advancing clocks during summer months to make better use of daylight. This can result in temporary changes to the UTC offset.
